Roger W. Freels, 69, died at 10:30 a.m., June 19, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Lancing, Tenn., to Magnus and Laura McCoy Freels, who preceded him in death. On April 5, 1974, he married Candy Hamilton, who survives in Lima. Mr. Freels was a 1961 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1966 to 1969. He retired in 2004 from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant after 30 years, where he had worked in several capacities. He was a member of Lima Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing. In his free time, he loved bowling and had rolled a 300 game at Westgate Lanes. He will be remembered as a true family man, always caring for anyone in need. Survivors also include four sons, Keith (Amee) Reed, of Rolla, Mo., Mike (Steph) Freels, of Canton, Marc Freels, of Pataskala, and Jason Freels, of Lima; two daughters, Kimberly Cramer, fo Lima, and Megan Freels, of Albuquerque, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Roni "Wanda" Freels, of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kacey. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lima Missionary Baptist Church. The Revs. Terry Brock and Denny Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and the Air Force Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Rita's Hospice.
