Richard L “Dick” Gottfried, 71, passed away May 24, 2014, at 11:15pm at The Ohio State Medical Center.
Richard was born October 10, 1942 in Lima, Ohio to Ralph and Mary (Bishop) Gottfried who preceded him in death. On August 14, 1992 he married Sherry (Stephens) Gottfried who survives here in Lima.
Dick was a member of the Eagles #370, Elks #54, Moose Lodge #199. He enjoyed singing and listening to music. He loved his job as a corrections officer at the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the American Flag and what it stands for. Dick enjoyed spending time with this friends at the Eagles and spending time with family at family gatherings. He was always reaching out to others and he never knew a stranger. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: Children, Christine Pepitone of Sandusky, Ohio, Keith Gottfried, Sheila Gottfried, Step Children, Michelle (John) Magness, Mike L (Gloria) Frisby, Jon (Maureen) Frisby, Ritchie (Judy) Frisby, Jason (Lisa) Frisby, Jim (Kelly) Frisby, A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, Two sisters, Brenda (Mike) Caprella, Darlene Gottfried, Many nieces and nephews. Services will be held June 3, 2014 at 12:00pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Scott Dove to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery following the service. Friends may call on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Chiles-Laman Funeral &Cremation Services – Shawnee chapel.
