The value of hard work and dedication were evident in Vance as back as our Freshman year Freshman year at South Junior High School. Vance was a good athlete and Cery quick at that time South High had not lose a game in several years and we did not want to be the first team to lose .We played Delphos St John's for the Freshman Championship game and everybody knew itwas going to be a tough game Vance was assigned to guard Delphos St John's leading scorer who played as well as a upperclassman Varsity player, Vance covered him like blanket and held to just a few points allowing our team to win. Not only was Vance under the pressure of quardung Delphos St John's star player , but he knew that his mother had already bake a cake width @South Freshnan Chamos" She brought the cake to the locker room after the game and thought that was the greatest thing Vance handled all that pressure like a champ which served him well as our quarterback in our senior year, but that championship game has always stayed in my mind Thanks to Vance and his mother from Joe Ckark
