I was so looking forward to talking with Betsy again. She was a dear friend and I lost sight of her after OSU. Her passing makes me sad. Does anyone know anything more about Betsy?

REBECKA STUMP-FLANDERS

Rebecka Flanders, 66, passed February 18, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio

Rebecka recently retired after 25 years of service with Health Recovery Services, where she began as a treatment aid at Bassett House, moving to prevention aid for the last 20 of those years

She was coordinator of Safe and Drug Free Schools, beginning with the Babes program, and as a trainer with Ohio Violence Prevention Process. Rebecka was instrumental in Teen Institute as well as numerous other programs.  For her outstanding dedication she was awarded Substance Abuse Prevention Advocate of 2009 from the Athens, Hocking, Venton counties 317 board.

She is survived by her mother, Lucylle Stump, her daughter, Ariel Flanders-Pasden; two sisters, Sue Sentle and Pat Howard; as well as six nieces and 13 great nieces and nephews

Rebecka’s tireless generosity of spirit, diligence and kindness will be sorely missed by family, many close friends, her colleagues, the many children and young adults she touched through Teen Institute, as well as her neighbors.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 27th at 1:00pm in Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, a24 Morris Avenue, Athens.  Contributions can be made to Teen Institute Programs c/o HRS, PO Box 724, Athens, Ohio, 45701.  A note of concolence may be sent to the family or sign the online register book at www.jagersfuneral home.com.
