Gary J. Barnes, 67 of Sand Lake, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Gary was born November 12, 1943 in Lima, Ohio the son of Raymond and Agnes (Fellhauer) Barnes. He was a graduate of Lima Senior High School and Case Western Reserve College. He was presently a financial advisor at Ameriprise. Gary had been a member of the American Foundryman's Society, the Cedar Springs and Sparta Rotary, and the Cedar Springs Public Schools Board of Education where he had been a past president. Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Sipe) whom he married on September 3, 1966; children, David (Wendi) Barnes of Cedar Springs, Steven (Michele) Barnes of Grand Rapids, Trisha (Jeff) Gallatin of Comstock Park; grandchildren, Sonia, Dylan, Ethan, Britney, Brandon, Xander, Joshua; brothers, Larry (Cheri) Barnes of Indiana, Raymond (Pam) Barnes of Ohio, Robert (Deb) Barnes of Nevada; mother-in-law, Zora Sipe; many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, and Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am.
