KAREN D. EMERICK, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 18, 2016. Born in Lima, Ohio, Karen was a Registered Nurse with Lutheran Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 2009. Karen had a heart for serving the Lord through many missions trips around the world. Karen and her husband were active with High School Youth Groups for decades. She was a founding member of The Pointe Church where she also taught Sunday School. Karen made wonderful homemade noodles. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Richard "Dick" Emerick of Fort Wayne; children, Kristen Emerick of Wilmington, N.C., Richard (Kerrie) Emerick and Michael (Marko) Emerick, both of Billings, Mo.; grandchildren, Noah and Abigail Emerick; siblings, Gary (Alice) Bowers of Virginia Beach, Va., Dennis (Bonita) Bowers of Dayton, Ohio, David (Carole) Bowers of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jonnie Bowers of Lima, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Laota Bowers. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at The Pointe Church, 5335 Bass Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Memorials may be made to The Pointe Church-Mission Fund. So sorry I didn't know about Karen's passing.  We had sort of lost contact with each other through the years.  We were good friends during our time at LSHS.  Shared many good times attending Youth for Christ events, and parking our parent's cars at the KuPee and watching the cars turn on the turnstyle.  Rest in peace Karen.  You were a good friend.  Connie Martini Saunders
